Kathleen Kooiman Executive Director

Kathleen has been volunteering for FCCSB in the capacity of grant writer for this past year.  She has written a number of grants and to date has been awarded over $200,000 in grants for the benefit of FCCSB and our California State Parks.  Both she and her husband are surfers and have served Carlsbad State Park Campground as Camp Hosts.  It was during her time as Camp Host last year that Kathleen saw the need for grant writing and jumped right in.

Kathleen has held positions as CEO and CFO for non-profit organizations since 1999.  Her breadth of knowledge in management, accounting, fund development, and coalition building will help FCCSB transition into our next phase of supporting our California Parks, Beaches, and Campgrounds.  We are excited to have her on board as our Executive Director.

When you get a chance, introduce yourself and welcome Kathleen to our organization.

Your Help is Needed

We have had three people volunteer after last month's appeal for help but we still need more help in the following areas:

Enhancing  communications for marketing and social media

Fundraising

Legal expertise in non-profits

Assisting in project management

Educational programs for the organization and the state parks

Soliciting competitive bids for materials needed on various projects

Anyone interested in assisting us complete this very important mission please contact Kathleen Kooiman at kkooiman@fccsb.org  or leave a voice mail at 858-603-2705.  We hope you can help us have five more years of success in working with the State Parks in Carlsbad and Encinitas.

Message from the Executive Director

Hello everyone!  I am ecstatic to be the new Executive Director and now an integral part of this team.  Our Board of Directors is a wonderful group of people whose governance and oversight will see FCCSB far into the future.  Look for some changes on our website so you can learn more about them and even see their pictures.   With the collaborative leadership of our North Sector Superintendent, Robin Greene, and her team of superheroes, I don't think there will be much we can't accomplish over the next year.    You will be seeing some welcome changes to our landscape in August- RECYCLE BINS!  More about that next time and I will also share how FCCSB is partnering with other community organizations......exciting times ahead so stay tuned!   I would love to hear from you -best number to catch me is 949-307-1300.

Many thanks to my mentor and friend, Bill Wisener (Founder, Past President, Past Executive Director), who has taken me under his wing, and continues to share his wisdom.

Kindly Kathleen

Have you added FCCSB to your Ralphs account?

Thanks to everyone who signed up, we received our first check from the Ralphs Charitable Foundation. The more of you who sign up the more money Ralphs will contribute to FCCSB. To calculate their donation they use the customer's Ralphs card to determine the amount. Please include us in your profile by going to your account at www.ralphs.com and adding us. Just sign in and go to My Account and scroll down to the bottom where it says Community Rewards and type in either Friends of Cardiff and Carlsbad State Beaches or Organization Number "94998". After that just use your Rewards card every time you shop at Ralphs or Food 4 Less.

Ralphs will calculate everyone's purchases and then make a donation to FCCSB relative to those purchases. It could not be easier; no cost to you other than 5 minutes of your time and FCCSB will receive support from Ralphs from then on.
